Shake Your Hips by Slim Harpo

What an infectiously sly rythm he has going on that guitar, underpinned by some really sleazy, but sweetly and honestly sung vocals, aided by Harmonica and some Spoons: That’s the way i like it! A beautiful example of Jump Blues: infectious!
The Stones thought so too, and they covered this, as they did with countless other artists like Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf and John Lee Hooker. Having heard the imported rhythm & blues Lp’s of the late 50s and early 60s, and meeting many of the Chess Records artists like Willie Dixon, in Chicago on they’re first U.S. tour. The blues was and is the foundation of the Stones sound and stayed with them all they’re career. “Shake Your Hips” was covered for “Exile on Main Street” and aided it to become one of the best albums of all time! This live clip of the Stones performing this classic tune was from around the same year as the Exile Lp:
