Artist and DJ Mikal Hameed breathes new life into old, decrepit office furniture by transforming beat-up junky chairs and sofas into awesome, fully-functioning sound systems.
Mikal Hameed latest works blend his musical history and his creative nature. As a designer (Mikal) and artist (M11X), he calls on us to forget our individualized nature and relationship with our headphones and demands that we start to share our music in the way it was meant to be; free and unplugged from our ears. M11X’s manifesto blends the iconic image of the boom box and alters the platform by which music is brought to the masses. Mikal’s personal relationship to the early 80’s and boom boxes create a strong foundation that he explores through collaboration with traditional art mediums.
