Unfortunately the Original Single Edit is withheld from view due to copyright restrictions on Youtube.
Pay close attention at 5:18 minutes of the recording above as it bears the original famous “Funky Drummer Drum Break” as the full 4 bars counted in by a by a swift “One, Two , Three, Four, Hit it”. Again of special interest is last three minutes as James Brown, apparently, titles thisimprovised piece of music his band have just created.

Surely the most immitated/sampled drummer in the world, Clyde Stubblefield, not just due to this 1969 release on the (Starday-) King label, but countless (they are unknown in total number) others such as “Try Me”, “Think”, “Lost Someone”, “Night Train”, “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag”, “I Got You (I Feel Good)” · “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”, “Cold Sweat”, “I Got the Feelin’”, “Licking Stick”, “Say It Loud – I’m Black and I’m Proud”, “Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine”, “Super Bad”, “Caldonia”, “Out of Sight”, “Hot Pants”, “Make It Funky”, “Talkin’ Loud and Sayin’ Nothing”, “Get on the Good Foot”, “The Payback”, “My Thang”, “Papa Don’t Take No Mess”, “Funky President”…

See what the Original funky Drummer can still do, here is a really impressive Staged Drum Lesson from around 2008, hosted by Marley Marl:

I say: James Brown may have invented “The One”, but Clyde Stubblefield is On It!

Author Note:
And Yes: No, i did not Dig this up this Week coinciding with the 5 anniversary of James Brown’s Death! But I did digg it out the Box ;) so i guess you could call this one a poach of the week… further i must add that the single edit actually neraly misses most of the greatest breakbeat loop on the planet as the original famous “Funky Drummer Drum Break” is only featured on King 45-6290 in fade out of “Funky Drummer Part. II”.
Really this asks for an article on the subject of: “The worst edits of all time”.
